The Hartford Project (THP) Service Saturday is a one-day event open to all ages. It is an opportunity for people to build relationships with the wider body of Christ and engage in ministry alongside THP worksite partners.

This spring, we invite you to participate in Service Saturday from your homes. We are working to provide online worship, virtual opportunities to connect, and in-home volunteer projects for this event.

Day of Event:
- 1:00 PM: Welcome and Worship (online)
- 1:30 PM: Meet your virtual team!
- 2:00 PM: Complete your team's volunteer project from your home. Teams will have the ability to stay connected virtually, post updates, and complete challenges throughout the event.
- 4:30 PM: Celebration and Closing (online)
Where?
This year, due to COVID-19 and social distancing, Service Saturday will be held in individual homes across the region. Virtual teams will be created and these teams will be assigned different service projects that can be completed at home. Service Saturday Supply Kits will be delivered to homes prior to the event, dependent on service project assignments.
Church Registration Steps
- Fill out the Online Church Registration Form by April 25th.
- Promote THP to youth, families, and adults within your church. Make sure all Individual Registrations (including your own) are submitted by May 2nd.
- Complete a background check for all leaders participating with your church.
- Complete the Online Church Agreement and Release Form by May 9th.
You as the leader are responsible for
- Completing the Church Registration Steps listed above and communicating all necessary information to participants registering with your church.
- Screening all participants registering for THP Service Saturday through your church, to ensure they are adequately prepared and capable of participating in THP Service Saturday. This includes, but is not limited to, running background checks on all adults registering with your church . Additionally, you may choose to hold mandatory virtual meetings for your team prior to THP Service Saturday, or require students to complete a certain number of service hours before participating in THP Service Saturday.
- Having at least a 6:1 minor to adult ratio. (While this ratio is still ideal for a virtual Service Saturday experience, it is not required this year - please reach out to us if you think you will not meet this ratio.)
- Please pray about and for this day. Encourage people in your church to seek God’s direction about serving together. We are looking forward to connecting and serving together in this new way.

IS THERE A COST TO REGISTER?
No, Service Saturday is free to allow as many people as possible to participate!
There is a suggested donation of $25 per person or $50 per family, to help cover the unique costs of a virtual Service Saturday experience. These donations will help THP purchase supplies for our volunteer projects, and any excess funds will be used to support THP's additional programs and mission.
There's also an option to purchase a THP hat for just $10 - this is something fun we can all wear during the event, and something memorable you can wear after the event.
Making a donation and purchasing a hat are both optional, neither is required to participate in Service Saturday.

- YOUTH (grades 6-12) and ADULTS are welcome to participate as an individual or as a household of 2+ people.
- CHILDREN (grade 5 and younger) must participate as a household, with at least one adult.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR THE EVENT?
- Electronic Device(s) and Internet Connection: Participants will need the internet (whether through a data plan or in-home network) and at least one electronic device in order to connect with other Service Saturday participants throughout the day. A smartphone will work, but if multiple people from one home are participating, they may want to share a larger device such as a tablet or computer. If you or someone you know wants to participate without internet access or electronic device(s) please contact us by phone at 860.595.2880.
- Wear Your THP Merch: Do you have a THP shirt or sweatshirt? Wear these during the day to show your love for our THP community! Don't have any THP Merch? Grab our new THP hat, or just wear your favorite comfy outfit.
- Service Saturday Supply Kit: After registering, you should receive an automatic email confirmation. If you do not receive this confirmation email, please contact us to confirm your registration was successful. As the event approaches, we will provide you with more details about your church's service project(s), and will also deliver any necessary supplies to participants' homes in a Service Saturday Supply Kit.
- Pray with Us: Pray for our ministry partners, our communities, the most vulnerable among us, and those serving on the frontline every day. Pray for this day of service - that God would continue to unite his Church, and that we would, together, glorify God and bless our city.
